Both sides had a man sent off as Leicester City's 13-match winless run came to an end with a 1-0 victory against Hull City, thanks to Riyad Mahrez's strike.

The away side saw plenty of the ball during the opening exchanges, but struggled to create anything by way of goalscoring opportunities.

After six minutes, Hull created the game's first chance as Sone Aluko bent an effort towards goal, but Leicester keeper Ben Hamer was there and held it comfortably.

Hamer then had to be alert to deny Gaston Ramirez, who skipped past a few challenges before swinging a left-footed shot at the Englishman.

It was an encouraging period for Hull, but the game turned scrappy and congested as both sides looked to establish control in midfield.

Leicester eventually made the breakthrough through Mahrez, who cut inside Stephen Quinn before curling past Allan McGregor from the edge of the box.

Ramirez had an opportunity to level things up for Hull after he evaded Wes Morgan and collected Alex Bruce's through ball, but his first touch was too heavy and he ran out of play.

Following the restart, Hull again came close to an equaliser as Ahmed Elmohamady's cross was deflected off Morgan before bouncing narrowly past the post.

Jake Livermore was the next player to have an opportunity for the home side with an outside-of-the-boot shot which cannoned off the frame of the goal.

The woodwork was then tested again through substitute Abel Hernandez, who headed against the post from a corner before Curtis Davies fired the rebound over the bar.

Paul Konchesky and Quinn were both sent off late on, but Leicester eventually secured the three points to relieve the pressure on boss Nigel Pearson.
