Robert Snodgrass's inch-perfect free kick earns Hull City a last-gasp victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in Friday night's Championship match at the KC Stadium.

Robert Snodgrass's inch-perfect free kick gave Hull City a last-gasp victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in tonight's Championship match at the KC Stadium.

The home side looked hungry from the start and had the lead less than five minutes in as Wolves calamitously dealt with a long ball.

Ahmed Elmohamady won a flick-on and after Dominic Iorfa's fluffed clearance, goalkeeper Carl Ikeme spilled the ball to present Adama Diomande with an empty net to slide into on his first league start in England.

Wolves captain Dave Edwards headed over from a corner as the visitors tried to respond and then fellow midfielder Jack Price also spurned a chance by nodding over the top.

Kenny Jackett's side would not have to wait long for an equaliser, though, as Edwards was left all alone to head home Jeremy Helan's cross. Hull were angry with referee James Adcock and they had a case as well after George Saville's late lunge on Moses Odubajo that went unpunished.

The Tigers were further angered shortly before the break when Ahmed Elmohamady was brought down in the box by Wolves youngster Sylvain Deslandes, who Adcock said got the ball and pointed for a corner, although replays showed otherwise.

The two goals were the only attempts on target until the 75th minute when Abel Hernandez tested Ikeme from 20 yards. Wolves then went close through Bjorn Sigurdarson, but it seemed that the game was going to end a draw until the last minute of stoppage time.

Hull won a free kick 25 yards out and second-half substitute Snodgrass stepped up to curl the ball over the wall. The Scot was initially credited with the goal, but replays show that the ball was heading away from the net after crashing off the underside of the bar and only went in because it hit the diving Ikeme.

It means that Hull keep up the pressure on those above them, with Burnley seven points better off and Brighton & Hove Albion, who hammered Fulham 5-0 tonight, eight above them in second having played a game more.
