Inter Milan saw their hopes of qualifying for the Europa League suffer a blow as they were held to a goalless draw by Chievo in Serie A this afternoon.
The hosts dominated from the start and Mauro Icardi came within inches of breaking the deadlock when he met a cross from Juan Jesus and directed a header against the post.
Inter continued to see most of the ball, with Hernanes and Danilo D'Ambrosio both firing efforts wide from range.
Chievo gradually fought their way into the match and, just past the hour mark, Mariano Izco forced Samir Handanovic to palm away his powerful strike, with Riccardo Meggiorini turning the rebound over the bar.
Meggiorini had another good chance for the visitors moments later, a low strike that was pushed behind by the keeper.
It was Chievo who were looking the most likely to open the scoring and Handanovic was forced into action once again to deny Alberto Paloschi's close-range effort, before Cristiano Biraghi smashed a shot against the bar.
Paloschi had another chance to snatch the points in stoppage time, but he was once again denied by Handanovic as Inter's keeper salvaged them a disappointing draw.
