Inter Milan survived an early scare to overwhelm Chievo 3-1 at the San Siro in Serie A tonight.
Andrea Stramaccioni named an attacking lineup for the match and his selection was rewarded after two minutes when Antonio Cassano squeezed a low shot home at the near post.
Chievo responded well and equalised on 22 minutes when Luca Rigoni ghosted behind Andrea Ranocchia to net from close range.
The visitors were level for just five minutes thanks to Ranocchia, who atoned for his error by beating two defenders to score with a thumping header.
A tense atmosphere at the San Siro was lifted early in the second half when Diego Milito marked his return from a hip injury with an emphatic finish to put the three points beyond doubt.
Inter received a further boost in the closing stages when Dejan Stankovic returned from injury for his first action of the season to rapturous applause from the home supporters.
