Nicolas Lopez scored a 90th-minute equaliser as Hellas Verona earned a 2-2 draw against Inter Milan, who lost Gary Medel to a red card on a thrilling night at the San Siro.
Verona shocked the home fans by taking the lead in the 10th minute through Luca Toni, who latched onto a cushioned header from Lazaros Christodoulopoulos to finish emphatically from close range.
However, their lead lasted less than eight minutes as Inter hit back with a similar goal when Rodrigo Palacio's header allowed Icardi to fire past Rafael.
Inter were frustrated in their bid to take the lead before the interval as Zdravko Kuzmanovic struck the post from the edge of the box, before Rafael pushed a Nemanja Vidic effort to safety during an extended spell of pressure from the hosts.
Walter Mazzarri's side had to wait until the third minute of the second half to go ahead as Icardi arrived at the back post to tap in a dangerous cross from Palacio.
Inter's joy was short lived though as Medel gifted Verona the chance to level the scores by handling inside the box and picking up a second yellow card for the offence.
Verona were unable to capitalise, though, as Samir Handanovic reacted well to get a strong hand on Toni's poor penalty.
The pressure was piled on Inter after losing Medel, but it looked like Verona had wasted their best chance to find the equaliser when Gustavo Campanharo struck the crossbar after breaking free of his markers with a perfectly timed run.
However, there would be a late twist on a dramatic evening as Lopez collected a pass from Javier Saviola before slotting home to hand Verona a point.
