Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario has reportedly emerged as a potential transfer target for Schalke 04.
Mario is back at San Siro after a loan spell at West Ham United during the second half of the last campaign, but the Portugal international does not feature in the plans of boss Luciano Spalletti.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Spanish side Real Betis, but according to Spox.com, Schalke could also enter the race for the playmaker's signature.
The report claims that the Bundesliga outfit are currently eyeing a move for Sebastian Rudy, but an approach could be made for Mario if that deals does not materialise.
Inter would prefer a permanent sale, but the Italian giants may have to make do with a season-long loan deal.
