Inverness Caledonian Thistle chairman Kenny Cameron has revealed that the club will not rush into appointing a new manager.
The Scottish Premiership side are currently without a manager following the departure of Terry Butcher to Hibernian.
Cameron has said that Caley Thistle have not been in contact with potential candidates for the role.
"The update to keep our supporters informed is that we have been inundated with applications for the job," he told the club's official website.
"Contrary to suggestions, there is no deadline for applying. The board has decided to take its time and no one has been contacted yet about the vacancy. We will focus on drawing up a shortlist at some point next week before setting about conducting interviews.
"It now appears unlikely that this process will be completed in time for the game with St Johnstone at Inverness next weekend."
Youth coaches Duncan Shearer and Scott Kellacher will take temporary charge for the St Johnstone match.
