How Italy could line up against Wales

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Italy could line up against Wales for Sunday's Euro 2020 group clash.

Roberto Mancini has the opportunity to rotate his squad for Sunday's Euro 2020 clash with Wales at the Stadio Olimpico.

The Azzurri have won their opening two Group A matches by the same 3-0 scoreline and are certain of a place in the last 16.

However, a point is needed against second-placed Wales if Italy are to progress as group winners, so Mancini has to get the balance right in terms of team selection.

Italy arranged a friendly against Cremonese Primavera in midweek to give some fringe players a run out, with Andrea Belotti and Federico Chiesa netting hat-tricks in the 9-1 win.

Both players have a strong shout of earning a place in the XI this weekend, as does Francesco Acerbi at the back in place of the injured Giorgio Chiellini.

Marco Verratti is working his way back to full fitness and is in contention to return here, possibly in place of one of the tournament's best players so far in Manuel Locatelli.

Domenico Berardi has been involved in five goals in his last six appearances in all competitions for Italy, scoring four and assisting one, and may benefit from the squad rotation.

Italy possible starting lineup: Donnarumma; Di Lorenzo, Bonucci, Acerbi, Emerson; Verratti, Cristante, Barella; Bernardeschi, Belotti, Chiesa
