Italy manager Cesare Prandelli has resigned as manager of the Azzurri.
The 56-year-old made the announcement after the four-time World Cup champions crashed out in the first round to Uruguay after a 1-0 defeat in Natal.
Prandelli had signed a two-year contract extension as recently as May 26, but following his team's exit from the tournament, he has offered to stand down at a press conference after their final group game.
Italy also went out in the first round of the World Cup four years ago, in South Africa.
