Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure has admitted that his side have to finally produce at the World Cup due to the advancing years of some members of the current squad.
Toure and his teammates failed to progress from the group stages in the past two tournaments, while they have also fallen short in their attempts win the African Cup of Nations despite reaching the final twice in the past eight years.
He told The Mirror: "We have an amazing squad of players and we all think it is about time we reach our full potential. When I look around and see players like Drogba, Kalou, Bony, Gervinho and Zokora, I can only be filled with confidence.
"Why we haven't gone on to win a trophy is something I can't understand. We want and we hope we make it soon because some of us haven't got a lot of time left to be winners.
"It won't be long until we have to step aside and let the younger generation come through."
Ivory Coast face Japan in their World Cup opener next Sunday.
