Juventus left-back Patrice Evra has expressed his pride over his side's performance in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid this evening.
The Italian champions, who remain on course for the treble, gained a slender advantage in their last-four tie as Carlos Tevez's second-half penalty proved to be the difference in a 2-1 victory in Turin.
Madrid did register an away goal courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo, but Evra insists that the most important thing for his side was to pick up the win.
"The most important thing was the win. It is never easy against Real and I am very proud of my teammates and staff. We prepared very well and we got the win," Evra told ITV Sport.
"We are very confident. Well done, we are 50% of the way there. Nobody expected us to get this far, it is 12 years since we got this far."
The two sides will meet for the second leg at the Bernabeu next week.
