Juventus have managed to survive in a goalless first half dominated by Inter Milan at the San Siro.
It was Inter who settled the quicker of the two sides in possession but Juventus created the first opportunity of the evening when Alvaro Morata turned in the box to find Juan Cuadrado, whose powerful strike was pushed away by Samir Handanovic.
The match was often broken up by fouls as both teams looked to dictate the tempo, and the referee brandished four yellow cards inside the opening 16 minutes.
Inter started to take control as the game progressed and threatened to open the scoring when Juan Jesus picked out Stevan Jovetic, but Giorgio Chiellini came to the rescue, making a crucial block to stop the forward's effort.
The lead was inches away from belonging to Inter in a dominant spell as Marcelo Brozovic collected a short corner and curled towards to the top corner, only to be denied as Gianluigi Buffon tipped the ball against the crossbar.
Juventus were struggling to contain the Inter attackers, but Massimiliano Allegri's side held on to reach the break as they look to prevent the hosts from reaching the top of Serie A.
