Former France international David Trezeguet is set to sign for River Plate later this week after passing a medical with the Argentine giants.
The 34-year-old ex-Juventus star is a free agent following his departure from Dubai-based club Banyias in the summer.
Trezeguet, who grew up in Buenos Aires, is said to be delighted with the chance to join his boyhood club.
The club's official website read: "Trezeguet is already a new River Plate reinforcement, that's clear. He passed the medical revision and will sign this week."
River Plate, record 33-time Argentine first division champions, were relegated from the nation's top division for the first time in their history back in June this year.
