Juventus have begun the defence of their Serie A title with a 1-0 victory over Chievo this evening.
Carlos Tevez almost scored inside the first 30 seconds of the match when he was picked out inside the box, before dragging a shot wide of the post.
Juventus did take the lead in the seventh minute after Martin Caceres met a corner at the back post and saw his header cross the line after deflecting in off Cristiano Biraghi.
The visitors were in firm control and Claudio Marchisio came close with a shot from the edge of the box that went narrowly over the bar.
Five minutes later, Arturo Vidal saw a close-range strike cleared off the line and, from the resulting corner, the Chilean headed an effort against the post.
As the game approached half-time, Juventus were denied by the woodwork twice more, as Tevez and Paul Pogba both saw attempts come back off the bar.
Despite the Bianconeri's dominance, Maxi Lopez almost brought his side level after the break with a close-range strike that was kept out by Gianluigi Buffon.
Juventus continued to push for a second, but in the end their one goal proved to be enough for them to start the new season on a winning note.
