Los Angeles Galaxy coach Bruce Arena has claimed that Steven Gerrard will enjoy a seamless transition to life in the MLS after witnessing his debut for the club.
The legendary midfielder, 35, made his long-awaited bow by playing the first 45 minutes of Galaxy's 2-1 friendly win over Club America in the early hours of this morning.
"I think Steven played well," Arena told reporters at full time.
"His passing was very good, his partnership with Juninho was good, he won some tackles, helped create some chances, he could have had a goal, the keeper made a great save on him.
"For his first time out it was very encouraging, he looked like he belonged, his leadership was really good."
Goals in both halves from Robbie Keane and Alan Gordon helped the MLS Cup champions cancel out Darwin Quintero's seventh-minute opener at the Home Depot Center.
