Los Angeles Galaxy began the defence of their Major League Soccer crown with a comfortable 4-0 win over the Chicago Fire today.
The Fire threatened early on as Chris Rolfe forced a good save from Galaxy debutant Carlo Cudicini.
LA gradually took control of the match before the break and opened the scoring when Mike Magee turned home with an acrobatic volley.
Magee got his second on 67 minutes after neat approach play from Robbie Keane, before completing his hat-trick with an instinctive finish soon after.
Keane completed the rout 10 minutes from time after heading in a cross from Omar Gonzalez.
Bruce Arena's side were comfortable in the closing stages to get life without David Beckham off to a perfect start.
