The Los Angeles Galaxy and the Colorado Rapids played out a 1-1 draw in their MLS clash this morning.
The Galaxy could have taken the lead in the 10th minute when Baggio Husidic raided forward from midfield and into the box, but he could only put his effort wide of the post.
The home side threatened again when Robbie Rogers lifted a cross into the box for the run of Ignacio Maganto, but the midfielder could only direct his header over the bar.
Gyasi Zardes almost opened the scoring when he found space on the edge of the box and drilled a low effort towards the bottom corner, but Clint Irwin was there to make the save.
Colorado took the lead against the run of play just before the break as Gabriel Torres raced away on a counter-attack and slotted the ball past Jaime Penedo.
In the second half, the Galaxy struggled to break down the Rapids defence as the visitors were resolute at the back and limited the home side to long-range efforts.
However, Los Angeles kept pushing for an equaliser and got their goal in the 75th minute when Gordon headed home from Stefan Ishizaki's corner.
The home side upped the ante late in the game in search of a winner, but were forced to settle for a point at the Staples Center.
