Las Palmas have appointed 57-year-old Quique Setien as their new head coach until the end of the season after confirming the departure of Paco Herrera on Monday evening.
Las Palmas' 4-0 defeat at Getafe on Sunday proved the final straw, with the Spanish club currently sitting 19th in the table.
Herrera guided the Yellows to Spain's top flight via the Segunda playoffs last season, but his short stay with the club has now been ended.
Setien, who represented Racing Santander and Atletico Madrid as a player and also gained three caps for Spain, managed Segunda side Lugo between 2009 and 2015. The Spaniard also has previous international management experience having taken charge of Equatorial Guinea in 2006.
Las Palmas return to league action at home to Villarreal on Sunday.
