A stoppage-time strike has given Rochdale a lead at the break against Leeds United in the FA Cup.
The two sides exchanged chances during the opening stages, with Danny Pugh firing over for Leeds, while at the other end Matthew Lund glanced a headed effort wide of goal.
Visiting Leeds then went close in the 14th minute when Matt Smith rose highest to meet Pugh's cross, but his header was cleared off the line following a goalmouth scramble.
It was the away side that continued to create the majority of the opportunities, but both Scott Wootton and Luke Murphy failed to make clean connections with attempts from inside the penalty area.
The hosts grew into the tie as the half progressed, but they rarely called visiting goalkeeper Paddy Kenny into any meaningful action until Scott Hogan glanced a header beyond his reach just before the whistle was blown to give the League Two side the lead.
