Andrew Surman's early strike has given Bournemouth a 1-0 half-time lead over Leeds United at the Goldsands Stadium.
The home side began on the front foot and Marco Silvestri was called into action in the third minute to push away Ryan Fraser's goalbound effort.
Three minutes later, Bournemouth took an early lead through Surman, who was making his first start for the club since arriving for his second spell on the South Coast. The midfielder sent a precise, curling shot into the corner of the net, much to the acclaim of the home support.
Matt Ritchie was then denied twice in quick succession. First, his low shot was blocked at the near post before a dipping strike from long range was acrobatically tipped over the bar by Silvestri.
Fraser then curled a shot over the bar as Bournemouth continued their positive start, but in the final 15 minutes of the half Leeds did threaten, and Tomasso Bianchi came close with a curling effort.
