Leeds United head coach Javi Gracia has confirmed that Luis Sinisterra is ruled out for the rest of the season with ankle ligament damage.

The 23-year-old winger was recalled to the starting lineup and scored for the Whites in Tuesday's 1-1 draw at home against relegation rivals Leicester City.

Sinisterra headed home at the back post after receiving a cross from Jack Harrison to increase his goal tally for the season to seven in 22 games across all competitions.

However, the Colombian – who has found the net in each of his last three appearances at Elland Road – hobbled off just after the half-hour mark with an ankle injury.

Sinisterra has been plagued with niggling injuries throughout his debut season for Leeds since joining from Feyenoord last summer, and he will play no further part in the Whites' bid to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday ahead of Sunday's trip to Bournemouth, Gracia said: "Luis will be out for the rest of the season. I think it's something in his ankle, a ligament.

"It's tough for us to lose key players but I prefer to not complain, keep positive and give value to all the players that I have enough players to compete and to find a way with them."

Gracia has also revealed that defender Maximilian Wober remains an injury doubt for Sunday as he is yet to return to team training.

The 23-year-old January signing missed the draw with Leicester after sustaining a minor hamstring issue in the defeat at Fulham last weekend.

"In this moment he is not training with the team," Gracia added. "We will see tomorrow if he can help us or not, but now he is not training with the team."

Tyler Adams remains sidelined after undergoing surgery on a hamstring problem shortly after the international break last month, while Stuart Dallas is still recovering from a long-term leg injury.

The absence of Sinisterra could see Wilfried Gnonto handed a start on the wing, and Gracia has insisted that the 19-year-old remains an important member of his squad.

Gnonto has shown glimpses of his potential in his debut campaign for Leeds, but he has struggled for regular game time since the arrival of Gracia, starting only three of Leeds' last eight Premier League games.

"You ask me about Willy many times and I always say the same, an exceptional player with an amazing character," Gracia told reporters.

"I have to take the decisions for what is best with the team. I am sure in the next games Willy have chances to show how good a player he is.

"The last game (against Leicester) I decided to play with [Crysencio Summerville], but I am sure in the next games Willy will have chances to show. I choose what's best for the team. I think both will help us for sure."

Leeds currently sit 16th in the Premier League table and remain embroiled in a relegation dogfight, but they can move four points clear of the bottom three if they can secure maximum points against a Bournemouth side who beat Southampton 1-0 on Thursday. body check tags ::
