Leeds United midfielder Luke Murphy was sent off during a goalless 45 minutes of the all-Yorkshire League Cup at Bradford City's Valley Parade this evening.
Visiting Leeds started the brighter of the two Yorkshire rivals, with former England full-back Stephen Warnock the first to go for goal in the 11th minute. His shot had plenty of power, but if flew inches wide of the target.
Meanwhile, up the other end, Aaron McLean had a good chance to put Bradford in front, but his header from close range dropped the wrong side of the back post.
The main talking point of the half then occurred in the 31st minute as Murphy was handed his second yellow card of the contest for a foul on James Meredith.
The home side failed to make their numerical advantage count during the remainder of the half, though, as Leeds held out.
