Leeds United are reportedly open to the idea of handing Gaetano Berardi a new contract.
The 31-year-old, who has made six appearances for the Whites in the early stages of the 2019-20 campaign, will see his current deal at Elland Road expire at the end of the season.
Having struggled to secure a regular spot in the Championship this season, there have been suggestions that the Swiss is considering leaving Elland Road on a free transfer next summer.
However, according to The Mirror, despite not yet offering him a new deal, Leeds are open to the idea of the centre-back staying with the club beyond the end of the season.
The report claims that Berardi will ultimately be left to make the final decision as the offer of regular football might no longer exist under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Whites are currently fifth in the Championship table with 20 points from their 11 matches ahead of this weekend's clash with Birmingham City.
