Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino says that he would like to leave the club and wishes he had never come to Elland Road.

Leeds United owner Massimo Cellino has said that he wishes he had never bought the Championship side.

Cellino took over at Elland Road in April 2014 and has endured a rocky two years in charge, appointing six different managers and dealing with tax-evasion charges in his native Italy.

His latest disqualification is likely to be withdrawn by the Football League after his appeal against a tax conviction was upheld in an Italian court last week.

In an interview with The Times, Cellino said that he would go nowhere near the Whites if he could turn back time.

"I've had enough," he said. "It's better to walk out, not because I'm dishonest but because I'm tired and hurt and lonely.

'Why did they disqualify me when they knew the truth? I don't want to complain because I'm a foreigner but I'm lost. I have no happiness anymore and don't know if I have the enthusiasm for the next season.

"If I could turn back time and you ask whether I would come to this club, I would say never. But now what should I do? Cry?"

Although Cellino went back on his verbal agreement to sell the club to supporters group Leeds Fans United earlier this season, he has again expressed his desire to make a deal with someone.

He added: "If someone wants to buy the club I will sell it. If somebody doesn't come in I have no choice but to run it."

Leeds finished 13th in the 2015-16 Championship season.
