Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish has revealed that midfielder Fabian Delph is likely to miss the rest of the season with an ankle injury.
The 22-year-old, who picked up the injury last week during a loan stint at Leeds United, has had a number of injury woes throughout his career and is expected to spend another lengthy spell on the sidelines.
"Delph is not fit," said McLeish. "I don't know if he will play again this season but he's rolled his ankle sufficiently enough to rule him out [for some time].
"It's a shame because we wanted him to go out and play regular games to see if he could get over those ailments that he's had.
"Hopefully, if he comes back stronger in the summer then we will see a different Delphy."
Delph made the switch from Elland Road to Villa Park in 2009.
