Wigan Athletic have sealed their first win under manager Malky Mackay as they beat Leeds United 2-0.
Leeds, who have now not won any of their last four games, enjoyed more of the ball during the opening exchanges but there were no real goalscoring opportunities early on.
Sam Byram caused the Wigan defence problems down the right with his pace before having a shot at goal, but it was blocked well.
The Latics went in front when James McClean's cross was chested into his own net by the unfortunate Liam Cooper.
Leeds responded well and Mirco Antenucci floated a cross into the box which Billy Sharp connected with, but his header hit the crossbar.
They had another good chance after the break after a driving run forward by Lewis Cook. The youngster played in Antenucci, whose effort was deflected wide.
The hosts piled on the pressure as the half wore on but Ivan Ramis and Rob Kiernan were impressive in the air and Wigan continued to hold on to their lead.
They eventually sealed the win through McClean, who hammered the ball into the net late on to secure a vital win at the bottom of the Championship table.
