Ross McCormack has ended Middlesbrough's hopes of signing him by committing his future to Leeds United with a new four-year contract.

The Scottish international striker had been the subject of several offers from Boro, who were willing to pay £2m to bring him to the Riverside Stadium.

However, Leeds boss Brian McDermott has convinced the 27-year-old, who has scored four goals in six matches this season, to stay at Elland Road until 2017.

McDermott is quoted by the official Leeds Twitter account as saying: "The owners have turned down three offers [for McCormack] and have ensured we retain his services in the peak years of his footballing life."

McCormack joined the Whites from Cardiff City on a free transfer in 2010.
