Kelechi Iheanacho has become the first player to score a VAR-assisted goal in English football.
Video Assisted Referee technology made its English debut through trials in the FA Cup and EFL Cup semi-finals in January this year.
Iheanacho, playing for Leicester City against Fleetwood Town in Tuesday night's FA Cup third-round replay at the King Power Stadium, latched on to a Riyad Mahrez pass and fired into the net.
The linesman initially flagged for offside, disallowing the goal, but a review via VAR showed that the Nigerian striker was onside when played in by Mahrez and thus the decision was overturned.
Iheanacho's goal was his second of the game and helped Leicester secure a 2-0 win over their League One opponents, edging the Foxes into a fourth-round tie away at Peterborough United.
VAR has also been tested at FIFA events and used in Serie A and the Bundesliga this season.
