Leyton Orient twice surrender the lead as Bristol City secure a hard-fought 2-2 draw with Russell Slade's men at Ashton Gate.

Bristol City twice recovered from a goal deficit to hold high-flying Leyton Orient to a 2-2 draw at Ashton Gate tonight.

The Londoners twice surrendered the lead as goals from David Mooney and Dean Cox were cancelled out by Sam Baldock and an own goal from Scott Cuthbert.

Mooney fired the hosts into the lead on 23 minutes, sweeping home after goalkeeper Elliot Parish failed to hang on to Kevin Lisbie's header.

The Robins responded well to the deficit and nearly restored parity minutes later, only for goalkeeper Jamie Jones to palm Marlon Pack's 30-yard free kick past the post.

Despite boasting a half-time lead, Orient emerged from the interval retaining a sense of urgency, with both Lisbie and Mooney seeing goals chalked off for offside shortly after the break.

However, Sean O'Driscoll's men soon drew level. Aden Flint rose highest to meet a Scott Wagstaff corner as the ball fell kindly for Baldock, who swept past Jones from close range on 58 minutes.

Losing their advantage served to inspire the Londoners, as Russell Slade's men re-established their lead 12 minutes later through Cox, who tapped home from close range after Parish fumbled Moses Odubajo's drive.

The lead proved short-lived, as the hosts restored parity for a second time as defender Cuthbert inadvertently headed past his own goalkeeper.

Both teams forced the issue and staked claims for a dramatic winner but the spoils were ultimately shared.

Consequently Orient slip to second in the League One standings after Wolverhampton Wanderers secured a 2-0 victory over Tranmere Rovers.
