Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen has revealed that he is relishing playing in the Champions League for the first time in his career next season.
The 24-year-old joined the club from Swansea City two years ago, but has struggled to make an impact at Anfield following his £15m move.
Allen has admitted that one of his reasons for signing for Liverpool was to play in Europe, and the Wales international is looking forward to realising one of his dreams when they compete in the competition next season.
He told reporters: "I'm really looking forward to getting my first taste of Champions League football this season - it was a dream of mine and a target I had when I joined the club.
"I was hoping I'd get that chance. It's a club that belongs in the competition - and everyone would agree they are really looking forward to it getting underway.
"I've had two great years here. I've still been developing and have settled in really well. I had a taste of a successful season last season, really pushing at the top end of the table, which is where you want to be as a player."
Allen made 26 appearances in all competitions for the Reds last season, scoring one goal.
