Real Madrid defender David Alaba will be fit for the Champions League final against Liverpool on May 28.

The Austria international has been on the sidelines for Los Blancos since aggravating an abductor problem during the first leg of his team's Champions League semi-final with Manchester City on April 26.

Alaba was an unused substitute in the second leg against Man City at Bernabeu, while he has missed Real Madrid's last four league matches with the problem.

Earlier this month, it was feared that the 29-year-old would have to sit out the Champions League final, as the issue was proving to be difficult to overcome.

However, Alaba trained alongside his teammates on Tuesday, with the Austrian proving his fitness to head coach Carlo Ancelotti ahead of the European Cup final with Jurgen Klopp's side.

The defender could potentially be available for Real Madrid's La Liga clash with Real Betis on Friday, meanwhile, which comes eight days before the final of the Champions League.

Alaba has been a vital player for Ancelotti's side during the 2021-22 campaign following his arrival from Bayern Munich, scoring three goals and registering four assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

In La Liga, he has contributed two goals and registered three assists in 30 outings, while he has scored once in 11 Champions League appearances in 2021-22.

Alaba is widely expected to start alongside Eder Militao in the middle of the Real Madrid defence for the Champions League final, with Dani Carvajal and Ferland Mendy in the full-back positions.

According to EFE, Ancelotti could have a full squad available for the clash with Liverpool, as a number of players are entering the latter stages of their injury recoveries.

Eden Hazard is believed to be a doubt for the clash with Real Betis due to a knock that he suffered against Cadiz last time out, but the Belgian will reportedly be fit for the final even if he misses out on Friday.

Marcelo has also been back in training with Los Blancos this week after recovering from injury, but Gareth Bale trained alone on Tuesday, as the Welshman bids to overcome a back problem.

Luka Jovic and Isco remain doubts for Friday's encounter with Real Betis, but key midfielder Luka Modric will be available, having served a suspension in the 1-1 draw with Cadiz last time out.

Ancelotti's side secured the La Liga title at the end of April by beating Espanyol, and the Spanish giants are now going in search of their 14th European Cup, while Liverpool are bidding to win the competition for the seventh time in their history, which would take them level with AC Milan. body check tags ::
