Bordeaux and Liverpool have played out an entertaining but goalless first half in their Europa League opener this evening.
Liverpool started the game brightly, controlling possession and creating the first opportunity of the match as Divock Origi found Philippe Coutinho on the edge of the box, but the Brazilian's shot flashed wide.
Emre Can came close to finding the game's opening goal with an overhead kick, but Bordeaux goalkeeper Cedric Carrasso produced a comfortable save.
Bordeaux broke immediately, and their first chance of the match fell to Diego Rolan, but the Uruguayan striker's effort found the roof of the net.
Rolan missed a good opportunity to give the hosts the lead soon after, as Nicolas Maurice-Belay found the striker in a good position but the shot curled over the bar.
The hosts continued to test Liverpool, as a deflected Henri Saivet free kick tested Simon Mignolet, before Wahbi Khazri tested the Belgian keeper with a tame effort.
Liverpool almost took the lead before the break as Coutinho hit a 20-yard strike, but his effort struck the post.
