Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has hailed the Anfield crowd for the atmosphere they created during this evening's 2-0 Europa League win over Manchester United.
The two most successful teams in English football were meeting in Europe for the very first time, and Liverpool came out on top courtesy of goals from Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino.
It could have been more but for a string of important stops from David de Gea, and Henderson admits that his side perhaps should be in an even better position heading into next week's second leg at Old Trafford.
"The fans were brilliant, electric. That gave us a great boost. De Gea made some good saves, we created a lot of chances and we felt we could be two or three up," he is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
The victory halted Liverpool's run of four straight defeats against United.
