How Liverpool could line up against Atalanta BC

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp must work around a new defensive injury concern for the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final with Atalanta BC on Thursday.

Trailing 3-0 from a shock first-leg loss at Anfield, the Reds suffered back-to-back defeats in a 1-0 beating at the hands of Crystal Palace in Sunday's Premier League clash, where Conor Bradley came off early in the second half with a foot problem.

Klopp confirmed in his pre-game press conference that the youngster would not return to training for a couple of weeks, so Bradley will be one of four injury victims watching on from the sidelines this week.

Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee) and Thiago Alcantara (muscle) are absent too, while Stefan Bajcetic has not been selected either, even though he earned some minutes for the Under-21s last week.

Bajcetic would have been an option to replace Bradley at right-back, but Trent Alexander-Arnold will surely return to the rearguard alongside Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker and Andrew Robertson, arguably the only Liverpool player to do himself justice at the weekend.

Wataru Endo and Curtis Jones both left a lot to be desired in the middle, so Harvey Elliott and Dominik Szoboszlai could now freshen up the engine room, where Alexis Mac Allister may occupy the deepest position again.

Possessing a big-chance conversion rate of 19.4% - the worst of any player in the big five European leagues - Darwin Nunez risks ceding his spot to the fit-again Diogo Jota, but Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz should reprise their roles out wide.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, Van Dijk, Robertson; Szoboszlai, Mac Allister, Elliott; Salah, Jota, Diaz body check tags ::
