Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Brighton & Hove Albion

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

FA Cup holders Liverpool will be out to avoid another South Coast romping when they meet Brighton & Hove Albion in the fourth round of the competition at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds bested Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in a third-round replay following a 2-2 draw at Anfield, with Harvey Elliott scoring the only goal of the contest at Molineux.

Jurgen Klopp's side played out a dull 0-0 stalemate with Chelsea in their most recent Premier League game, though, and they were memorably thumped 3-0 by Roberto De Zerbi's side in the Premier League on January 14.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the trip to Brighton, who ran out 5-1 winners over Middlesbrough in round three.

Fabio Carvalho

Status: Out
Type of injury: Unspecified
Possible return date: Unknown

Klopp revealed at his pre-match press conference that Fabio Carvalho would miss out due to an unspecified issue, which is understood to be minor.

Nat Phillips

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 29 (vs. Brighton)

Klopp also added that Nat Phillips has been suffering from a "proper cold" in recent days, which threatens his participation in Sunday's tie, although he could potentially leave before the January transfer window closes anyway.

Luis Diaz

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: March 4 (vs. Manchester United)

Luis Diaz was on the road to recovery from a knee injury before suffering a setback during Liverpool's World Cup training camp in Dubai, and the Colombian attacker will spend another few weeks on the treatment table.

Arthur

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: February 4 (vs. Wolves)

The luckless Arthur - who could allegedly be facing a month-long suspension after being caught up in Juventus' financial scandal - could return from thigh surgery within the next couple of weeks, but he will not be available for this one.

Diogo Jota

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: February 21 (vs. Real Madrid)

Klopp admitted earlier this month that Diogo Jota is still a few weeks away from coming back from the serious calf problem he sustained against Manchester City in October, but he could potentially make his return in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie versus Real Madrid.

Roberto Firmino

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Roberto Firmino sustained a calf problem before Liverpool's EFL Cup trip to Man City in December; the issue was initially a minor one, but he has since sustained more damage, and Klopp cannot put a timeframe on his recovery.

Virgil van Dijk

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: February 18 (vs. Newcastle United)

Virgil van Dijk came off with a hamstring injury against Brentford on January 2 - having been substituted as a precaution at first before scans revealed a more serious problem - and Klopp does not expect the Netherlands centre-back to return for another few weeks yet.
