How Liverpool could line up against Southampton

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round clash with Southampton.

Liverpool have been handed a pair of fresh injury concerns ahead of Wednesday's FA Cup fifth-round tie with Southampton at Anfield.

After 120 minutes of energy-sapping action at Wembley on Sunday, the Reds were crowned EFL Cup winners for the 10th time thanks to a 1-0 victory over Chelsea, against whom they were without 11 players from the first whistle.

Liverpool's infirm list has now stretched to an unlucky 13, as Ryan Gravenberch was stretchered off with an ankle injury in the first half, before Wataru Endo was seen making his way through the mixed zone on crutches.

The duo join Stefan Bajcetic (calf), Thiago Alcantara (muscle), Ben Doak (knee), Joel Matip (knee), Trent Alexander-Arnold (knee), Diogo Jota (knee), Alisson Becker (hamstring) and Curtis Jones (shin) in the infirmary, while Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Dominik Szoboszlai were not passed fit for the EFL Cup final either.

Nunez sparked hope of an imminent comeback by charging across the sidelines during the Reds' celebrations, but with just over 72 hours to recuperate, Jurgen Klopp is unlikely to receive any fitness boosts before the visit of the Saints.

The Reds boss can still shuffle the pack at the back, where Jarell Quansah, Joe Gomez and Kostas Tsimikas will almost certainly be brought in, allowing Andrew Robertson, Ibrahima Konate and match-winner Virgil van Dijk to enjoy a hard-earned rest.

Bobby Clark and James McConnell were two academy products to unexpectedly see the field at Wembley, and thanks to Endo and Gravenberch's concerns, the pair are now primed to line up alongside Alexis Mac Allister in the engine room.

Jayden Danns could also benefit from Luis Diaz's fatigue, but Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliott may be forced to go again, unless Klopp sees fit to call upon Trey Nyoni or Lewis Koumas to give his XI an even more youthful feel.

Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Kelleher; Bradley, Gomez, Quansah, Tsimikas; Clark, Mac Allister, McConnell; Elliott, Danns, Gakpo body check tags ::
