Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 117
Wolves wins: 37
Draws: 18
Liverpool wins: 62

A fixture that first took place all the way back in the 19th century - an 1894 Division One game that Wolves won 3-1 - the Old Gold and Liverpool have now met on 117 occasions in competitive football, and the Reds inevitably lead the way in terms of victories.

Indeed, Liverpool have prevailed 62 times in this head-to-head, although Wolves have posted a respectable 37 victories over their own down the years, and another 18 matches have ended in a share of the spoils.

However, the Merseyside giants have had their opponents' number more often than not in recent memory, having won each of their last four matches against Wolves and 12 of their last 14 across all tournaments, most recently prevailing 2-1 at Molineux in February 2024.

During Jurgen Klopp's last dance in the 2023-24 campaign. Liverpool produced one of their famed comebacks from that season to triumph 3-1 at Molineux, before the German officially brought the curtain down on his golden reign with a 2-0 Anfield success on the final weekend of the season.

Wolves do not have to go an age back for their most recent win in this head-to-head, though, as with Julen Lopetegui in the chair in February 2023, they cruised to a 3-0 victory at Molineux to end an 11-game losing run against the Reds in the Premier League.

The West Midlands side were eliminated from the FA Cup at the hands of the Reds just a few weeks before that three-goal victory, but they did knock Liverpool out of the 2016-17 and 2018-19 editions of the competition, winning 2-1 at Anfield in the former year.

As far as Premier League matters are concerned, though, Wolves' 17 losses to Liverpool in the competition is more than they have suffered against any other opponent, and from their 21 previous meetings in the Premier League, the Reds have kept a clean sheet in 13 of them.

Liverpool great Roger Hunt loved a goal in this fixture and is the highest documented scorer in matches between the Reds and Wolves with nine goals, while Mohamed Salah is second on the list with six.
