Trent Alexander-Arnold set to make Liverpool return against Tottenham Hotspur

Trent Alexander-Arnold is in line to make his return for Liverpool in Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Trent Alexander-Arnold is in line to make his return for the Reds in Saturday's Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

The 24-year-old has missed his side's last four matches in all competitions due to a hamstring problem that he suffered during the Premier League clash with Aston Villa on September 3.

Alexander-Arnold has been absent for the league games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, in addition to fixtures with LASK Linz and Leicester City in the Europa League and EFL Cup respectively.

The England international has been back in training this week, though, and Klopp has said that the defender is in line to feature against Tottenham in North London.

"Trent trained yesterday normal and will train today normal, and then we have to make a decision," Klopp told reporters during his pre-match press conference.

"He will be in the squad, I'm not a doctor so cannot make that decision, but it looks like he can be in the squad tomorrow and play."

Alexander-Arnold provided one assist in his opening four matches of the new Premier League season.

Liverpool have made a strong start to the 2023-24 campaign, picking up 16 points from six matches to sit second in the table, two points behind the leaders Manchester City.

The Merseyside outfit have won each of their last seven games in all competitions, while they have recorded 3-1 victories in their last four matches.

"Tottenham, in recent years, it was always that you played against the best counter-attacking team in the world. It was unbelievable what they set up there," Klopp added when discussing Tottenham.

"If you lost a ball wherever, the next ball would find [Harry] Kane and Kane will find Son [Heung-min] and they will end up in a one-on-one with the goalie and it was pretty much not to defend.

"Now it is much more possession-based, it is much more based on own ideas, creative ideas and stuff like this. In the analysis we saw they have real quality but they will have found things where we are not perfect and we have found things where they were not perfect.

"They do the analysis as well and had a full week to work on all these things. So, since they played last time, I am not sure how many sessions they had, they can create new routines for set-pieces and stuff like this, can change the whole way they defend in one week, they can change the whole way they attack in one week and that is a massive advantage."

Liverpool remain without the services of Stefan Bajcetic, Thiago and Conor Bradley through injury for the clash with Spurs. body check tags ::
