Liverpool recorded back-to-back wins for just the second time this season by beating Leicester City 3-1 at the King Power Stadium this evening.

Simon Mignolet's attempts to keep out a Leonardo Ulloa shot ended with him gifting Leicester the lead in the first half, but Adam Lallana drove home an equaliser before the interval.

Steven Gerrard scored on his return to the starting lineup to give Liverpool the lead in the 54th minute, before Wes Morgan was sent off for bringing down Rickie Lambert just after the hour mark.

It was left to Jordan Henderson to secure the points for the visitors late on as Leicester failed to climb off the bottom of the table.

Was the result fair?

Yes, but it wasn't a dominant performance from Liverpool. Leicester were always in the game, and they should have capitalised after taking the lead. However, allowing the visitors to hit back so quickly was a big turning point as Liverpool started to find their form in attacking areas. On another evening Leicester may have done enough to draw the game, but the dismissal of Morgan made a big difference.

Leicester's performance

Leicester didn't play that badly, but they've failed to turn a decent display into a win. Unfortunately for Nigel Pearson, that has become a common theme over the past couple of months. The Foxes matched Liverpool in almost every department, but their inability to create clear chances was a big disappointment. Despite playing a key role in opening the scoring, Ulloa was kept quiet for long spells, while the likes of Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez only showed what they can do in flashes. Mistakes from Morgan and Kasper Schmeichel made the difference. The red card had a big say, but it will be Leicester's struggles in the final third of the pitch which will frustrate Pearson.

Liverpool's performance

It was much better from Liverpool, but there's still a lot of work to be done. Brendan Rodgers watched his side move the ball quickly in attack, and Steven Gerrard's move to an advanced position appeared to bring out the best in Raheem Sterling and Adam Lallana. Rickie Lambert linked up play well, despite failing to create a chance of his own. However, the visitors were caught out on a number of occasions when Leicester committed players forward at pace. Apart from a couple of defensive mistakes, Rodgers will be pretty happy. The challenge now is to build on two victories in four days.

Sports Mole's man of the match

Adam Lallana: Despite costing Liverpool close to £25m in the summer, Lallana has been in and out of the side in the early stages of his Liverpool career. However, the England international made a statement with his performance this evening. Lallana rarely wasted possession and he was a threat to Leicester whenever he found space further up the pitch. His fine equaliser was crucial following a slow start from the visitors.

Biggest gaffe

Schmeichel will be losing sleep thinking about Liverpool's third goal later tonight. A dangerous cross from Gerrard was deflected into the path of the Foxes goalkeeper, who somehow managed to parry the ball to Sterling. Henderson was slotting into an empty net a couple of seconds later as Liverpool took advantage of Schmeichel's error to secure the points.

Referee performance

Lee Mason got the big call right. Morgan had to go after pulling back Lambert, who had a clear path to goal after holding off the defender. Liverpool could have had a penalty when Schmeichel collided with Henderson, but Mason managed to avoid making a mistake which would have had an impact on the result.

What next?

Leicester: The Foxes continue their search for a first win since September when they meet Aston Villa on Sunday.

Liverpool: A third successive win is on the agenda when Sunderland arrive at Anfield on Saturday.
