Feyenoord technical director Dennis te Kloese responds to speculation linking manager Arne Slot with a summer move to Liverpool.

Feyenoord technical director Dennis te Kloese has responded to speculation linking manager Arne Slot with a summer move to Liverpool.

The Reds are on the lookout for a new boss as Jurgen Klopp will be stepping down from his post at the end of the season after eight-and-a-half successful years in the Anfield hotseat.

Xabi Alonso was initially Liverpool's primary target, but he has committed his future to Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, while Sporting Lisbon's Ruben Amorim has also been under consideration, but it is understood that the 39-year-old is no longer in the frame to succeed Klopp.

Speculation continues to swirl over who could take the reins at Liverpool next season, and a new name from the Eredivisie has now emerged as a leading contender.

Indeed, a recent report states that Liverpool have expressed their interest in Feyenoord boss Slot, while journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the Reds have made 'direct contact' with the 45-year-old.

Feyenoord chief confident of keeping Liverpool-linked Slot

However, Feyenoord chief Dennis te Kloese has insisted that he is confident that Slot will remain in charge of the Dutch giants beyond this summer.

Responding to rumours linking Slot with Liverpool, Te Kloese told ESPN: "I think it is logical that he is in such a good position.

"It is very special how he has manifested himself in recent years and has really given Feyenoord a face.

"We responded by extending his contract (in May last year until 2026). In any case, we assume that he will also be our trainer next year.

"We have experienced this situation before and will take good care of our own interests."

In-demand Slot shining at Feyenoord

Slot has enhanced his reputation over the last three seasons in charge of Feyenoord and boasts a 64% win ratio across his 146 games at the helm.

The Bergentheim-born boss led Feyenoord to the Europa Conference League final and a third-placed finish in the Eredivisie in his first season in charge, before steering the club to their first top-flight title in six years last season.

This term, Slot's side sit second in the Eredivisie table and nine points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven, but they did secure the KNVB Beker last weekend courtesy of a 1-0 win over NEC Nijmegen in the final.

Slot is believed to be committed to Feyenoord for the time being, but he has previously suggested that he is open to managing aboard.

Speaking in May 2023 having previously been linked with the Tottenham Hotspur job, Slot said: "My next step will not be a club in Holland. If that is my next step, then I've failed completely.

"The normal next step will be to go abroad and I've always said the best league in the world is the Premier League."

Slot is currently focused fully on preparing his Feyenoord side for Thursday's league fixture away against Go Ahead Eagles. body check tags ::
