Jurgen Klopp says that he is the "normal one" after officially becoming Liverpool's new manager.

New Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described himself as the "normal one" as he prepares to embark on a new career at Anfield.

The German coach, who left Borussia Dortmund at the end of last season following a seven-year spell, held his first press conference as Liverpool manager this morning.

The 48-year-old signed a three-year deal with the Premier League outfit last night, just four days after Brendan Rodgers was sacked.

While addressing the media, a reporter reminded Klopp that when Jose Mourinho first arrived at Chelsea in 2004, he labelled himself as the 'special one', and when the German was asked how he would define himself, he replied: "I don't want to describe myself.

"Does anyone in this room think I can do wonders? No. I am a normal guy. I come from the Black Forest. My mother is probably sat at home now watching this, not able to understand a word of what I am saying, but very proud.

"I am the normal one. I was a very average player, became a manager in Germany at a special club, Mainz, then I had a great opportunity to take Dortmund, a special club for seven years. For both parties it was best to leave and now I am here. I hope to enjoy my work. Everyone has told me about the British press so it is up to you to show they are all liars."

Klopp will take charge of his first game on October 17 against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
