Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his team will be a stronger outfit next season, despite the departure of striker Luis Suarez.

Manager Brendan Rodgers has insisted that Liverpool can continue their development in the wake of the sale of Luis Suarez.

Suarez will join Barcelona for a fee in the region of £75m upon the completion of a medical, but despite losing the Uruguayan's firepower in the final third, Rodgers is confident that his side will be a stronger force during the next campaign.

After Suarez's exit was confirmed, the 41-year-old told the club's official website: "We are focused on the future, as we strive to continue with the progress we have made and build on last season's excellent Barclays Premier League campaign.

"I am confident that we will improve the team further and will be stronger for this coming season, when we will be competing on all fronts; domestically and in the greatest club competition in the world, the Champions League.

"If there is one thing the history of this great club teaches us, it is that Liverpool FC is bigger than any individual. I hope that our supporters continue to dream and believe that we are moving forward and with continued improvement and progression, together we will bring the success we all crave and deserve."

Liverpool have been linked with a number of replacements for Suarez, including Lille's Divock Origi, Benfica's Lazar Markovic and Real Madrid's Karim Benzema.
