Luis Suarez will reportedly have his £10m-per-year wage reduced by as much as £3m by Barcelona if he is caught biting another opponent.
The Uruguay forward became the Catalan giants' record signing when he left Liverpool for a fee of around £75m and is thought to have agreed a £200,000-a-week, five-year deal.
The 27-year-old has been made the fourth-highest paid player at the club, behind Lionel Messi, Neymar and Andres Iniesta, but could see his pay packet slashed if there is a repeat of the incident with Giorgio Chiellini, which saw the striker banned from all footballing activity for four months.
Suarez was previously suspended for 10 matches during his time at Liverpool for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
