Naby Keita has urged former RB Leipzig teammate Timo Werner to join him at Liverpool this summer.
Werner, 22, will see his Leipzig contract expire at the end of the 2019-2020 campaign and it is understood that he will be sold this summer unless he signs a fresh deal with the German club.
Liverpool have long been credited with an interest in the Germany international, who has scored 13 times in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.
Keita has said that Werner 'was one of his best friends' at Leipzig and is hopeful that the forward will move to Anfield in this summer's transfer window.
"We played very well together in Leipzig and he was one of my best friends. It's clear that should he change, I'd ask Timo to come to Liverpool with us," Sport Bild quotes Keita as saying.
Werner has found the back of the net on 55 occasions in 101 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions.
