An early strike from Franck Ribery has given Bayern Munich a 1-0 lead over Manchester City in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium this evening.
The current champions made a strong start, as Ribery looked for Arjen Robben early on, but the Dutch international headed well wide.
However, the German champions were able to break the deadlock just seven minutes into the tie, Ribery keeping the ball for himself this time to drive it past Joe Hart from 25 yards out.
Manuel Pellegrini's side were stretched in defence while Bayern looked to extend their lead, as Thomas Muller just missed a Robben cross, before Hart managed to keep a David Alaba effort out.
Bastian Schweinsteiger tried to curl in a free kick from the edge of the box just before the break, but his delivery was blocked by the wall.
