Manchester City are still winless in this season's Champions League after being held to a 1-1 draw by Roma.

The Citizens took the lead in the fourth minute when Sergio Aguero scored from the penalty spot.

Francesco Totti ensured that his side took a point from the encounter with a chip over Joe Hart midway through the first half.

Here, Sports Mole takes a look at who impressed during an eventful 90 minutes.

MANCHESTER CITY

Goal

Joe Hart: Slipped at the vital moment as he came running off his line to try to stop Totti from scoring. However, he recovered from that blip to make vital saves from Gervinho and Pjanic. (6/10)

Defence

Pablo Zabaleta: Energetic display as usual from the right-back, who got forward well down his flank all evening. Played some dangerous balls into the box and his cross to Silva almost won City the match in stoppage time. (6/10)

Vincent Kompany: Was caught out as Totti ran through to score for Roma. He was given a tough evening by the visitors' forward line and didn't instil his usual dominating presence on the City defence. (6/10)

Martin Demichelis: Poor showing from the Argentine who played Totti onside for Roma's goal. Struggled to deal with the pace of Gervinho and Pjanic all evening. (5/10)

Gael Clichy: Left exposed throughout the match on his side of the pitch. Was not supported enough as Maicon constantly got in behind, but the arrival of Milner in the second half helped him. (6/10)

Midfield

Jesus Navas: Delivered some good balls into the box and he should have won his side a penalty when one of his crosses was blocked by the hand of Manolas. Went off at half time for Milner. (6/10)

Yaya Toure: Another disappointing evening for the Ivorian. Failed to exert his usual influence on the midfield and had very little impact going forward. (6/10)

David Silva: City's best player of the evening. Constantly looked threatening going forward and was the driving force behind most of his team's best moves. Almost grabbed the winner for his side in added time, but put his effort just wide of the post. (7/10)

Fernandinho: Solid performance from the Brazilian, but did not have too much impact on the game. He almost ran through to score in the second half, but was stopped by a last-ditch tackle from Yanga-Mbiwa. (6/10)

Attack

Sergio Aguero: Gave City the lead early on from the penalty spot after he was fouled in the box. Had little impact on the match from then on, as he was well-shackled by the visitors' defence. (6/10)

Edin Dzeko: Did not have too many chances on goal against a solid Roma backline. Was taken off just before the hour-mark for Lampard. (6/10)

Substitutes

James Milner: Came on for Navas at half time and helped City to see more of the ball in the midfield. Offered protection for Clichy down the left and was also a threat going forward. (7/10)

Frank Lampard: Replaced Dzeko in the second half and linked up well with the City midfield. Had a few attempts on goal, but was only able to test the keeper once from long range. (6/10)

Stevan Jovetic: Was only on for the last six minutes of the match and did not have much time to make an impact. (6/10)

ROMA

Goal

Lukasz Skorupski: Replaced the injured De Sanctis and did not have the busiest of nights. Could not be blamed for the goal and was only forced to make one save. (7/10)

Defence

Maicon: Could have easily been sent off early on when he brought down Aguero. However, he recovered well from that set back and hit the bar moments later, Was a constant menace down the right and linked up well with his team's attack. (6/10)

Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa: Solid evening at the back for the man on loan from Newcastle. Dealt well with the threat of Aguero and Dzeko and looked confident when in possession. (7/10)

Kostas Monalos: Could have given away a penalty in the first half for a handball, but other than that enjoyed a good evening. Made sure that City only had two attempts on target and formed a decent partnership with Yanga-Mbiwa. (7/10)

Ashley Cole: The former Chelsea man enjoyed a fine evening on his return to England. Was rarely beaten on his flank and got forward well in support of his teammates. (7/10)

Midfield

Radja Nainggolan: Played a fine through ball that led to Totti scoring Roma's goal. Used possession well throughout and has shown just why he has become a vital part of this team since his move from Cagliari in January. (7/10)

Miraelem Pjanic: Had a number of chances early in the second half and saw a close-range effort blocked by Hart. Was part of his team's best attacking moves all evening, with City finding it hard to deal with his pace. (7/10)

Seydou Ketia: Solid performance in the heart of the midfield. Distributed the ball well all evening and made it hard for City to put together a decent spell of possession. (7/10)

Attack

Francesco Totti: Roma's captain was the best player on the pitch this evening. Took his goal extremely well and played a number of fine passes throughout. He is still a key player and everything good that happened for his team went through him. (8/10)

Gervinho: Another good performance from the Ivorian. Showed his pace and strength to burst through in the first half before being denied by Hart. Always looked a threat and has flourished since his move from Arsenal. (7/10)

Alessandro Florenzi: He has scored plenty of goals for Roma in recent weeks, but was unable to have a big impact going forward this evening. Helped out his team at the back and made sure that their full backs weren't exposed. (6/10)

Substitutes

Juan Iturbe: Replaced the impressive Totti late on, but did not see much of the ball. (6/10)

Jose Holebas: Came on for Florenzi late on and helped to shore up the defence. (6/10)

Vasileios Torosidis: Was brought on for the injured Maicon in the final minute and did not have much to do. (6/10)
