Manchester City team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Nottingham Forest

Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
Sports Mole

Manchester City will be looking to build on their perfect start to the new season when they welcome Nottingham Forest to the Etihad Stadium for a Premier League clash on Saturday.

The reigning champions have won each of their opening five top-flight matches, including a 3-1 victory away against West Ham United last weekend, with summer signing Jeremy Doku on the scoresheet along with Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland.

Pep Guardiola's side have since made a winning start to the defence of their Champions League crown after securing a 3-1 comeback victory over Red Star Belgrade in their first group-stage match on Tuesday, thanks to a second-half brace from Julian Alvarez and a strike from Rodri.

Fixtures continue to come thick and fast for Man City, and Guardiola has revealed that his side are "in trouble" due to their mounting injury list.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the Citizens' latest injury and suspension news ahead of the contest with Steve Cooper's side.

Kevin De Bruyne

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: Unknown

Kevin De Bruyne underwent hamstring surgery at the end of August and the playmaker is not expected to return until the beginning of 2024.

John Stones

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

John Stones has not played for Man City since the Community Shield loss to Arsenal in August due to a muscle problem, and it remains unknown as to when the defender may return to first-team action.

Jack Grealish

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: September 27 (vs. Newcastle United)

Guardiola has revealed that Jack Grealish is ruled out for at least the next seven to 10 days as he continues to recover from a knee issue, and the attacker is therefore unavailable for Saturday's game against Forest.

Mateo Kovacic

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 23 (vs. Nottingham Forest)

Mateo Kovacic, who has missed the last two games with a muscle issue in his back, is an injury doubt, but the midfielder could be in a position to return against Forest.

Bernardo Silva

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: October 4 (vs. RB Leipzig)

Guardiola has confirmed that Bernardo Silva is ruled out for the "next few weeks" after sustaining a unspecified leg injury in the first half of Tuesday's win over Red Star.

MANCHESTER CITY'S SUSPENSION LIST

Manchester City have no suspended players for this match.
