West Ham boss Sam Allardyce admits that it is "disappointing" to have drawn Manchester City in the semi-final of the Capital One Cup.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has expressed his annoyance at drawing Manchester City in the semi-final of the Capital One Cup.

The Hammers stunned Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday evening to seal their progression but, having drawn City - who have hit 77 goals in all competitions this season - Allardyce berated the luck of his team to be paired with Manuel Pellegrini's men.

He told the club's official website: "The big disappointment is that we have Manchester City in the semi-final. Away from home, they haven't been too clever but, at home, they've been scoring an average of four goals a game.

"You never know, and we'll go and give it our best shot, but we want to see more performances like that and pick up more points in what is the main priority for us - the Premier League."

The two-legged occasion will take place in January, with the Etihad to play host for the first leg.

Pellegrini's charges booked their place in the last-four stage with a comfortable 3-1 victory away to Championship outfit Leicester City on Tuesday.

The prospect of an all-Manchester final is in the reckoning after United booked a clash with the Sunderland in the other semi.
