Pep Guardiola: 'Next season will be tougher'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola warns his side that next season will be more difficult as they look to defend their Premier League title.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has warned his side that next season will be tougher than this term as they look to defend their Premier League title.

City were officially crowned as English champions on Sunday, but their quest to break the Premier League records for most goals, most points and most wins was put on hold courtesy of a 0-0 draw with Huddersfield Town.

Guardiola believes that the Terriers' performance is proof that there is no such thing as an easy game in the Premier League and is already looking forward to next season, when he expects a more difficult title challenge.

"Of course [the medal] will be in the right place. My daughters and son have them. I think all of us won't need to see the medal to see what we've done," Guardiola told reporters.

"It was something special. During one season we won many good things. I'm so satisfied, but the game (against Huddersfield) showed me how difficult everything is. They came here, played defensively perfect. A lot of credit to them.

"It looks easy when you win games, but next season will be tougher. They'll all want to beat us and we have to be focused. We have to understand how difficult it will be next season."

Despite the draw, City are still 17 points clear of second-placed Manchester United and will become the first Premier League team to reach 100 points in a season if they win their last two games.
