Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has admitted that he is bemused at how his side have failed to win any silverware this season.
City lost the FA Cup final to Wigan Athletic, conceded the Premier League title to rivals Manchester United and crashed out of the Champions League at the group stages.
"It's hard to understand why we haven't won anything when you look at the team and see the players we've got," Zabaleta told The Mirror.
"Another trophy has gone, we couldn't lift this FA Cup and that was important for the club – to keep winning trophies.
"Now this season has practically gone we need to come back next season stronger and try to win something again."
Reports suggest that City boss Roberto Mancini will be sacked at the end of the season and will be replaced by Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini.
